TRAIN JOURNEY

The Nigerian railway corporation established in 1896 by the British government, but over the past three decades, the infrastructural development of the Train service has spiralled down with just few stations in operation. The most functional Passenger trains are Train Kano Limited (KL), Train LL (Lagos Limited) and the KA (Kaduna, Abuja).

Despite the downhill shift, railway coaches and locomotives are yet experiencing a subliminal transition with broad-spectrum upgrades to standard gauges and a budding rail network connecting more parts of the country.

The aim of the project is to document the railway system in Nigeria as it transits through series of developmental phases, thus creating more awareness about this means of transportation which has suffered decay as the popularity of train travel dwindled. Though the constructive milestones lining the history of railroads in Nigeria are limited, they are still seminal to fostering growth in the railway system and heralding the beauty of travelling on tracks.
